Tommy Hilfiger fall 2022 proved that style has nothing to do with age, color, and size
The American brand championed diversity for its NYFW presentation
A lot has unraveled during New York Fashion Week: Vogue’s anniversary, Fendi’s iconic Baguette 25th year, Peter Do’s fluid tailoring, Willy Chavarria’s crowd-pleasing collection, and then some. But one notable celebration that has occurred on the runway happened during Tommy Hilfiger’s fall 2022 presentation.
Aside from the unveiling of the “TH” monogram, the fashion house also championed diversity and individuality. Lately, luxury houses have been championing inclusiveness when it comes to casting their models, veering away from the usual “modelesque” models. Women of different color, shape, and size have been established on the runway but there’s little to none when it comes to men. Thanks to Rihanna, Savage x Fenty featured lingerie for plus-sized men but it’s usually scarce when it comes to high fashion.
Thankfully, this has been addressed by Tommy Hilfiger for their latest presentation. The designer made the decision to cast not one but two “big” men on the runway. One being Chad, a.k.a. @aguywithfreckles, and Big Cam, who were both first-timers on the runway.
Both models were equally grateful for the opportunity to be seen. “First time on the runway for #tommyhilfiger at #nyfw!” said Big Cam. “Words can’t even explain how excited this has me, I’m glad I can represent the big and tall models and I will continue to do that this is just the start.” As for Chad, he said, “The story continues. First New York Fashion Week and many more to come. Thank you @tommyhilfiger for letting me be one of two big and tell men to walk your runway.”
Both guys rocked the new collection which came in blue with an all-over print of the new “TH” monogram from the house.
Together they walked the runway with equally notable models like Winnie Harlow, Ashley Graham, Precious Lee, Quannah Chasinghorse, and more.
