Fall 2022: This new menswear collection is inspired by shadows
Andrea Pompilio combines fashion, heritage, and innovation
After presenting two digital fashion shows for autumn-winter 2021 and spring-summer 2022 during Milan Fashion Week, Onitsuka Tiger is back presenting its autumn-winter 2022 on a physical runway.
The show, which is said to embody the word “shadow,” is a tribute to the ‘80s when Japanese aesthetics of “purity and austerity” were intermixed with Western’s look of “luxury and opulence,” taking for granted monochromes and detailing.
For the presentation, a group of youthful boys appeared dressed in layers of black. The kimono was given a new take done in layers of mix materials while some models walked in punk-inspired black leather recalling London style during the ‘80s. For the accessories, shoes materialized in flat-soled leather shoes, bulky sneakers, as well as special transparent sunglasses made by Kaneko Optical.
