Yeezy Gap announces ‘Engineered by Balenciaga’

Kanye West and Demna Gvasalia continue support for one another

In 2020, American rapper Kanye West signed a 10-year contract with Gap. The first drop, the round jacket, was instantly sold-out and even made the Gap website crash.

Fast forward to this year, according to a report made by Vogue, one of the hottest partnerships is about to happen as Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga comes to fruition. Kanye and Demna Gvasalia, Balenciaga’s creative director, have been supporting one another’s endeavors especially for the last couple of months. Demna has been sharing his creative outputs for Kanye’s “Donda” stage and event merch. Kanye has been supporting Balenciaga wearing his designs.

Yes, the collaboration may be a triple threat, but you might be having thoughts about the collaboration’s price points. Well, Demna clarified this in his interview with the publication saying, “This is a very different challenge. I’ve always appreciated the utilitarianism and the accessibility of Gap. I share some of the same sensibilities in my creative language. This project allowed me to join forces [with Ye] to create utilitarian fashion for all.”

As for Kanye, who officially goes by the name Ye now, the artist shares with Vogue saying, “It is a vision come true to work with Gap and Demna, the creative director of Balenciaga, to make incredible products available to everyone at all times.”
