Pro skateboarder Anthony Van Engelen drops new kicks for better flips

In 2019, skateboarding brand Vans unveiled the Vans AVE Pro sneakers in honor of pro skater Anthony Van Engelen, a.k.a. AVE. This year, another collaboration is underway, featuring the cutting-edge AVE 2.0 designed for every skater.

Hailing from San Diego, California, AVE has been immersed in skate culture since the late ’90s and remains a prominent figure in the industry today. Through his fearless approach to skating and boundary-pushing spirit, the AVE 2.0 emerges as the culmination of his influence extending to footwear.

The AVE 2.0 offers the durability every skater craves. Its standout feature is its unparalleled knit upper, crafted from technical textile with zonal construction. Extra stretch at the top of the foot and an adaptable collar ensure a comfortable fit, while open knit panels on the midfoot enhance breathability.

Additionally, the shoe boasts RapidWeld technology for seamless durability, suede accents for enhanced flick, and an external TPU heel cage for increased lockdown.

“I’ve found knit material to be super comfortable, lightweight, and breathable,” says AVE. “Combined with suede in high-use areas, it offers a perfect blend of design and performance.”

The sneakers are available in white and black colorways, accented with an energizing pop of neon. As for the accompanying apparel, the t-shirts come in long and short sleeves in white and orange. Additionally, these shirts feature Van’s iconic “Off The Wall” logo on both the front and back.
