‘Something new, but within the codes’
Sparkly embellishments, Sicilian prints, and bright colors were absent at the recent presentation of Dolce and Gabbana’s menswear collection.
However, the lack of flamboyant elements that typically define the brand’s previous collections does not make it plain; instead, it exudes a heightened sense of chicness.
For Dolce and Gabbana’s spring-summer 2024 collection, Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce have scaled back their usually extravagant presentations to deliver a more muted yet sophisticated collection. The silhouettes are slender, flowy, and roomier, while the colors are streamlined to black, white, beige, gray, and dark brown.
The essence of the brand’s DNA remains intact but is realized in a softer and more subdued manner. Several looks feature lace and chiffon, as well as undergarments and exposed skin, portrayed through sensuality rather than overt sexuality.
Notable highlights include a double-breasted chiffon vest paired with jogger-style organza pants, an oversized floor-length organza shirt worn over a long tank top, a single-breasted Sicilian suit in white wool canvas paired with a silk crepe de chine foulard, and an oversized double cashmere overcoat worn with ribbed knit leggings in beige.
