WATCH: Artisanal looks at Fendi spring-summer 2024 show

Work aprons and tool belts never looked this good

While Fendi’s fall 2023 collection focused on playful ’70s disco inspiration, the spring-summer 2024 collection shifted its focus to work, offering a preview of what happens behind-the-scenes when artisans are at work.

Fendi’s latest presentation took place at the maison’s leather goods factory in Capannuccia, Florence, where artisans provided the backdrop for the models showcasing their works of art. Silvia Venturini Fendi added an interesting twist to Fendi’s clean and crisp tailoring by incorporating a utilitarian approach, featuring workwear pieces such as dyed leather aprons and mini leather skirts in the form of tool belts.

Silvia also introduced weather-friendly pieces, including collared sleeveless tops, tunics, and mesh fabric shorts, as well as breezy shorts that fall above the knees. Several looks were styled with work jackets and coats, mostly in light-colored fabrics to avoid anything too dark or heavy.

Regarding accessories, the iconic Baguette bag was crafted from woven materials, while the Peekaboo bag sported sewing darts, adding a playful touch to the carry-on style. As for footwear, clog-like leather slip-ons perfectly complemented the overall chic and utilitarian vibe of the entire collection.
