Wearing this year’s theme of ‘Gilded Glamour’
Due to the high COVID cases last year, the Met Gala was moved from May to September. For 2022, the Costume Institute Gala was back on the first Monday of May (in our case, Tuesday) with the theme “Gilded Glamour.”
In 2021, the theme was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” and the standouts were red carpet royalties Timothee Chalamet wearing Haider Ackerman, Rick Owens, and Converse; Troye Sivan appearing on the carpet in a long dress; and A$AP Rocky donning a quilted look from ERL.
This year, the biggest night in fashion was hosted by Ryan Reynolds, Regina King, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Blake Lively who was dripping in an opulent color-changing Versace mermaid gown. There were a couple of rule breakers (just like every year) but more importantly, a couple of gentlemen appeared to the ball looking dashing than ever.
Special mentions are Evan Mock in a custom pastel corset creation made by 2022 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist Head of State and Joe Jonas in a black and white suit with laces from Louis Vuitton.
