Speedgoat 7 hits its stride in Manila
Hoka brings its latest trail runner to Timberland Heights for a first run with the local community
Before the city fully wakes, there’s a version of it that feels quieter, cooler, and a little more intentional. That was the mood on April 25, 2026, as runners traded pavement for dirt and headed up to Timberland Heights in San Mateo, Rizal for a sunrise trail run that felt equal parts test and escape.
The 7-kilometer route, guided by Dan Hilaria, cut through rolling elevation and mixed terrain just enough to challenge, not overwhelm. Conversations happened mid-run: how the grip held on loose ground, how the cushioning felt on descents, and how some shoes simply keep up without needing too much thought.

At the center of it was the Hoka Speedgoat 7, designed for technical trails but easy enough to wear for longer, steady efforts. It leans on a Vibram Megagrip outsole for traction, balanced cushioning for impact, and a breathable upper that doesn’t trap heat details you notice more when you’re actually out there.
Trail veteran Ronald Natividad added his take, pointing out how the latest update builds on the line’s reliability without overcomplicating it something seasoned runners tend to value more than hype.
The morning wrapped with a mix of recognition and downtime: top finishers, a few raffle wins, and runners lingering a little longer than planned. It’s that shift from performance to lifestyle that stays with you. The run becomes part of the day, not the whole story.
Part of a broader push to get more people off-road, the session proved a simple point: you don’t need extreme conditions to make trail running feel rewarding. Sometimes it’s just about showing up early, finding your pace, and letting the terrain do the rest.
The Speedgoat 7 is now available in select Hoka stores nationwide and online.
