Young Talents 2017: Haley Dasovich
Known for: Her travel video blogs on YouTube (HaleyDasovichvlogs)
It takes me… “Five hours to finish a 10- to 15-minute video.”
My first dream was… “To be a famous actress, singer, or soccer player. I wanted to be big and loud.”
The biggest risk I took was… “Becoming a vlogger. I quit my job in tech in San Francisco, where I worked for three and a half years. It was a leap of faith, but I was burned out and wanted to take my life in a different direction. I saw the huge success my brother had as a YouTuber [Garage cover boy Wil Dasovich who vlogs as Tsong and Tsonggo] and I thought I am the girl version of him.”
The hardest part of being a vlogger is… “Saying that it’s a real job to the outside world. But if you can be successful at it, it can pay well. I don’t sleep that much because of what I do. I work daily and do everything myself.”
And the best part is… “Forcing myself to be creative in making a story, in making my life more interesting, so I can influence people. The truth is you can’t be inspirational or funny every day. It’s human to be sad and angry every once in a while, but making and posting videos daily help me with my perspective.”
