LOOK: Jaden Smith makes history as Christian Louboutin’s first men’s creative director

Carving out the future of red soles, one collection at a time

Jaden Smith has never been one to color inside the lines. From his fearless approach to fashion to his ventures in music, acting, and sustainability, he’s built a career on rewriting the rules. Now, he’s taking that same energy into one of the world’s most iconic luxury houses, Christian Louboutin, as its first men’s creative director.

The role is more than a title for Jaden, it’s a chance to carve out a new kind of storytelling in menswear. “Merging my vision with Christian’s comes quite naturally because we see the world in a very similar way. There’s a shared respect for creative freedom, and I think that’s why it works. I want to continue the story, honoring the past while shaping the future through my own perspective. It isn’t just a title, it’s a creative home. Christian has given me a place to explore, to learn, and to create freely. His legacy is built on hard work and joy, and I want to carry that forward.”

This isn’t Jaden’s first brush with design. In 2020, he teamed up with New Balance to launch his own sneaker, the Vision Racer, a bold, eco-conscious silhouette that blended sustainability with his distinct edge. A year later, he was tapped by Levi’s for a capsule that pushed the boundaries of self-expression and inclusivity. Both moments hinted at a bigger path in fashion, one that’s now fully unfolding.

The partnership with Christian Louboutin feels like a natural extension of his creative evolution. The two first met in 2019, bonding over their shared appreciation for individuality. What started as admiration has now blossomed into a true collaboration. As Christian himself put it: “When I first met Jaden, I saw in him a natural fit for the Maison, his world is rich and multidimensional, his style and cultural sensibility are inspiring and his curiosity and openness are remarkable. I felt that with his creative direction our men’s collection would evolve in an exciting and dynamic way. He feels like the perfect addition to our creative team and I am truly looking forward to having fun working with him on our men’s collections.”

Jaden’s debut collection is set to drop during men’s fall/winter 2026 Paris Fashion Week in January 2026.
