This October, the Beckham family is opening their doors to their fans as Netflix is set to release a four-part series called “Beckham”—an insider’s look at a global football star and cultural icon.
The trailer for “Beckham” reveals aspects of David’s life that the public didn’t know. He shares how he struggled in school because all he wanted to do was play football. In another clip, he also talks about how he grappled with controversy, leading to sleepless nights and a loss of appetite.
Posh Spice also reveals how challenging it was to date the footballer back in the day when they would meet in carparks just to keep their relationship under wraps.
For “Beckham,” Academy Award winner Fisher Stevens (“Palmer,” “And We Go Green,” “The Cove”) and Academy Award and Emmy Award-winning producer John Battsek (“One Day in September,” “Searching for Sugar Man,” and “Winter on Fire”) were granted unprecedented access to David, Victoria, his family, his friends, and his teammates. The docu-series offers an intimate portrait of a man and serves as a chronicle of late-modern sports and celebrity culture.
