It’s official: ‘Squid Game’ season 2 is confirmed. Here’s what to expect
New season, new characters, and a whole new game
We bet you’ve heard of the great success of Netflix’s most popular series so far, “Squid Game.” After months of airing the show, with its cast getting global recognition, Netflix officially announces the making of season two and hinting what to expect for the upcoming season through an Instagram post.
Written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the first season concluded with Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) winning the bloody game. With a large sum of money at hand, he was also presented with facts of injustice and inequality the game bestows to its players. The season-ender also revealed that the protagonist chose to stay rather than be with his daughter in exchange for another round.
With the new season, what can viewers expect? Here’s what Netflix disclosed: “And now, Gi-hun returns. The Front Man returns. Season 2 is coming. The man in the suit with ddakji might be back. You’ll also be introduced to Young-hee’s boyfriend, Cheol-su.”
With either red or black hair, Gi-hun is set to return. The Front Man, who was also revealed to be the detective’s older brother, will be back as well. The man in the suit with ddakji, who is played by Gong Yoo, “might” be back as well.
Through the same post, a new character has been revealed. Remember Young-hee? The doll with laser eyes? “Squid Game 2” will be introducing us to her boyfriend Cheol-su. Will he be as forbidding as his girl, or more brutal? Only the new round can tell.
