Put some art into your sole with the Dr. Martens x Jean-Michel Basquiat collab
Here’s more wearable art to add to your collection
In the ‘80s, Jean-Michel Basquiat exploded in the art and cultural scene with his neo-expressionism movement in the subways of downtown New York. The streets played a canvas to his work that tackled racial and socio-cultural issues, launching him as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.
Today, Jean-Michel Basquiat is still one of the most celebrated artists in history and, for this, iconic footwear brand Dr. Martens is paying homage to his successes. This August 2021, Dr. Martens is offering a capsule which includes two boots and a backpack that will serve as canvas to the works of the artist.
Dr. Martens 1460 x Jean-Michel Basquiat
Paying tribute to the late Brooklyn-born artist, Dr. Martens 1460 boot will be printed with Jean-Michel’s “Untitled” (1982) across the quarters and sock liner, and the 1461 shoe will feature “Pez Dispenser” (1984) which will feature the world-renowned, radical dinosaur painting printed across both the smooth leather while the backpack will sport the artist’s signature crown detailing.
