The bicentennial collection is now available
As icons in the 1980s, Sebago and C.P. Company have shared a long history of fine craftsmanship and aspirational fashion. According to C.P. Company, these pieces were “purchased, traded, worn, and repurposed by a vibrant group of young Italian fashion cognoscenti.” In effect, they have crafted the first streetwear movement in Italian fashion scene.
“The young Italians who populated the piazzas of Milan in the early 80s shared with the Northern casuals tribes the passion for garments and the desire to be recognized,” C.P. Company further states. “These visionary teenagers wanted to be different from the classical Italian stereotypes and they were able to send sartorial shockwaves beyond the piazzas of Milan and around the world. Their unique blend of Italian sportswear and American clothing created a style phenomenon that influenced and resonated with youth movements to this day, from the first fast foods in Milan to the shores of Cinque Terre.”
Today, both brands are releasing a capsule to celebrate 50 years of C.P. Company and its sportswear heritage. The collection features two future icons—the M.T.t.N. jacket and Docksides boat shoe in red, blue, yellow—that lays the groundwork for its Italian fashion culture to continue for the next “cinquanta” years and beyond.
