This app lets you try on the Gucci Ace sneakers, whether you have the budget for them or not
You no longer need to be physically present in a Gucci store to try on their sneakers, because the Gucci app is now here. The app introduces augmented reality technology that allows customers to virtually “try on” the fashion label’s Ace sneakers, a mainstay among its collection. Based on creative director Alessandro Michele’s aptitude for infusing nostalgia into contemporary fashion, the app allows Gucci to present its newest shoe styles to its fans in an engaging experience and interactive way. Wannaby, Gucci’s technology partner for this project, developed the most precise and accurate shoe AR Try-on technology that has since been acknowledged by industry leaders and AR professionals all over the world.
The Ace sneaker was chosen to be the banner shoe for the Gucci app, given its ever-changing decorations that allow customers to express their own personalities through customized designs. It is regularly reinterpreted by the label.
The Gucci App allows users to explore how different models of Ace sneakers might look like when worn. They can pick the Ace sneakers of their choice, point their mobile device’s camera at their feet, and virtually “try on” their selected pair. They can also take photos of themselves “wearing” their picks and share them on social media, as well as download special Gucci stickers and wallpapers for their devices. The app, currently available only on iOS, is also linked to the Gucci website so customers can immediately purchase their choice of Ace sneakers.
