Modern artist Yu Nagaba stars in Uniqlo’s series of art collaborations with Musée du Louvre

Presenting the Louvre x Yu Nagaba collection

Uniqlo’s partnership with the Musée du Louvre continues this 2022 with Japanese artist Yu Nagaba entering the frame with his minimalistic style of art which will be available on Uniqlo t-shirt’s come Feb. 14.

This Uniqlo T-shirt (UT) collaboration capsule is a part of its partnership with Musée du Louvre, featuring masterpieces from the museum and then illustrated with simple and soft touch of Yu Nagaba who’s bringing a fresh take on Western art.

“When I started expressing myself in the simple lines I use today, the first painting I emulated was the Mona Lisa,” shares Yu. “I thought the best way to show off this style would be through an image that people already know and love. So it was deeply meaningful for me to return to the Mona Lisa for this project and I really enjoyed the process of finishing the pieces while closely examining the characteristics of the original artworks.”

Yu’s collaboration with Uniqlo draws inspiration from a variety of motifs from more than 35,000 works of art displayed at the Louvre including sculptures, paintings, and other forms of art.
