Willy Chavarria’s spring-summer 2022 gives ‘oversized’ a whole new meaning
The collection fuses hard, soft, masculine, and feminine silhouettes
Held at the 74-year-old barber shop Astor Palace Hairstylists, Willy Chavarria’s spring-summer 2022 show was louder than ever with exaggerated, oversized, and contemporary-cut silhouettes.
Opening the show were four models who showed up in varied colored trousers but in the same form of high-waist, cinched, and blown-out proportions of a pleated chino which set the whole tone for the show. Following the four statement pieces were a rundown of looks featuring either enormous polo collars, huge sleeves, loose denim pants, and full-sized long-sleeved shirts.
The designer, who is a part of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund this year, also made use of glossy leather which appeared on red-piped jackets as well as in coordinates of oversized polo and pants in a shade of grey.
