Editors Picks: The best looks from Paris spring-summer 2022

Paris took us on a trip filled with colors, prints, and deconstruction

With the underlying theme of post-pandemic era, the spring-summer 2022 presentation in Paris still told the longing-for-the-outdoors script. This time, a lot of the designers’ headspace went for something trippy.

Loewe went for neon pieces presented with beaming lasers, Louis Vuitton showcased psychedelic prints and bright colored garments, and even Rick Owens’ angel-looking models were dubbed as “stairway to heaven hippies.” But aside from these concepts, there were designers who also opted to stay grounded and make deconstruction their centerpiece instead. Case in point: Issey Miyake and Y/Project.

As men’s fashion week comes to wrap up this season, we give you our top picks from Paris fashion week spring-summer 2022.

First off, my favorites range from bright overalls to deconstructed playful pieces that can be worn multiple ways. In addition, there are pieces in my choices that are genderless too. Here are my picks:

Y/Project

One way or the other, these pieces from Y/Project aren’t just fun to look at. I bet they’re fun to wear too! There’s a knit top that can be worn multiple ways in the neckline with a collar or no collar option shirt. This is my type of fashion: fun and functional.

Louis Vuitton and Dior

Psychedelic or not, prints are one of the many and easiest ways to have fun in putting together a look.

Lemaire and Rick Owens

The looks may be on both extremes when it comes to wearability, but genderless pieces should be a staple in anybody’s closet regardless of style or season.

Alyx and Louis Vuitton

Monochromatic dressing will never be boring when done right. It’s always cohesive, it’s easy to put on, and will always look chic.

Below, Garage editor-in-chief Rey Ilagan provides his edits. Notice how he gravitated to just two major color schemes from the Paris presentations: brown and blue.

“Season after season, I can honestly say Kim Jones fully blossoms in Dior. His mastery of menswear craftsmanship combined with a very hip and modern business acumen for retail and the arts provide a successful delivery at the French house. Layered with delectable textures, these looks from Kim are giving off ultra luxe skater vibes. Just pure genius.”

Louis Vuitton

“When you mix sportswear and suits, it gets my attention. Virgil Abloh’s new collection at Louis Vuitton is nothing short of a menswear revolution.”
