The designer shares the inspirations behind his latest offering
Filipino fashion designer Michael Cinco reveals his spring-summer 2022 collection through a campaign shot entirely in Turkey. Modeled by Argentinian stunner Franco Garcia and lensed by Murat Guven, the images take style savants into the magical world of Cappadocia.
“I was inspired by the enchanting and otherworldly beauty of Cappadocia, a region in Turkey,” Michael tells. “The place looks as if it was plucked from a whimsical fairytale with the fairy chimneys.”
In this exclusive, the Dubai-based creative gives a more in-depth look into the capsule. Read our weekend chat below:
Let’s talk about your campaign shoot in Turkey. Did Cappadocia influence you in creating the collection?
I first learned about Cappadocia while I was watching a travel show on CNN five years ago. I was so amazed with the place that I really created a collection inspired by a place I’ve never been to, and eventually made a plan of shooting there with a collection that is inspired by the caves and unique landscape. So last May 2021, I decided to travel to Turkey to shoot for my campaign.
What’s the story behind the color palette?
Cappadocia is famous for its fairytale scenery, cave dwellings, remarkable rock formations, and, of course, the hundreds of hot air balloons that soar in the sky during sunrise each morning. These are the sceneries that inspired me to use vibrant colors like yellow, orange, red, gray, and some pink and nude hues for the collection.
Who is the Michael Cinco man for spring-summer 2022?
Young, fresh, and a man who is not afraid to explore into new adventures.
Can you talk about more of the print used in the collection? What’s the story behind the graphic work?
This graphic print is actually a tulip, the national flower of Turkey.
Where can one purchase your new menswear line?
Most of my menswear collections are available to order online. Clients can check them in our atelier in Dubai only. I am creating an online store and hopefully it will be developed soon this year.
