It came from the horse’s mouth, by the way, through a series of tweets that seem to reveal the artists he is collaborating with and the planned release dates of his projects with them.

This announcement comes on top of his recent comeback on Twitter after a lengthy withdrawal from the public eye, starting with the November 2016 cancellation of his Saint Pablo Tour after he had suffered from a public meltdown during the tour’s Sacramento, California stop. West was hospitalized for 10 days as a result, and he subsequently deleted his social media accounts.
Buzz about the new album started summer of last year, when TMZ reported that West was “holed up in Wyoming” and working on new material.
On top of his new music, the hip-hop mogul has also previously announced his intention to publish a philosophy book titled Break the Simulation. In his Pret-a-Reporter interview with interior designer Axel Vervoordt, West stated: “I’m writing a philosophy book right now called Break the Simulation. And I’ve got this philosophy—or let’s say it’s just a concept because sometimes philosophy sounds too heavy-handed. I’ve got a concept about photographs, and I’m on the fence about photographs—about human beings being obsessed with photographs—because it takes you out of the now and transports you into the past or transports you into the future.”
“I’m on the fence about photographs.” Interesting, given whom he is married to. In any case, it would be West’s second book, following his 2008 literary debut Thank You and You’re Welcome.
Anyway, his return to social media also has him sharing what looks to be prototypes of various Yeezy footwear. With some of them, though, it’s hard to tell if he’s really excited about the design or if he’s clowning them with the see-no-evil monkey and skull-and-cross-bones emojis. After all, some of the shoes feature, um, very particular aesthetic choices.
