A little bit ‘Wicked,’ a whole lot charming: Jonathan Bailey is People’s Sexiest Man Alive
From ballrooms to broomsticks, Jonathan’s got everyone under his spell
Jonathan Bailey just made history and made a lot of hearts skip a beat as People’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2025. Best known as the swoon-worthy Lord Anthony in “Bridgerton” and the golden-hearted Prince Fiyero in “Wicked,” Jonathan’s blend of wit, warmth, and quiet confidence has finally earned its global spotlight.
He joins an iconic lineup of past honorees like Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, and last year’s John Krasinski and also quietly makes history as the first openly gay man to hold the title, a sign that even the world’s most famous “sexy list” is catching up with the times.
In “Wicked,” he charmed his way through Oz opposite Ariana Grande’s Glinda, proving that his charisma works just as well in song as it does in a Regency ballroom. Off-screen, though, Jonathan keeps things refreshingly down-to-earth. In an interview with People magazine he revealed his idea of a perfect date night: “a walk, a dinner, and maybe a Lego—depending on how many dates it’s been.”
Born in Oxfordshire, England, Jonathan is 37 and has been acting since childhood, starting out in theatre before conquering both stage and screen. He’s an Olivier Award winner for the musical “Company” and will soon reprise his role as Fiyero in “Wicked: For Good.”
From “Bridgerton’s” ballrooms to the Emerald City, Jonathan’s ascent feels like more than a fairy-tale moment, it’s proof that charm, talent, and a little wickedness really can take you anywhere.
