K-Beauty for Filipinos: Chuchie Ledesma shows how

Learn the art of soft, skin-like makeup tailored for Filipino tones and textures

Korean makeup has become the gold standard for achieving a flawless, skin-like finish. It’s subtle, polished, and all about enhancing natural beauty. But while the trend is loved worldwide, pulling it off in the Philippines given our warm, humid weather and diverse skin tones requires more than just following the usual steps.

That’s where Chuchie Ledesma comes in. With over 15 years of experience in the beauty industry, she became the only Filipino to earn a scholarship to the prestigious Jung Saemmool Art & Academy in Seoul, one of Asia’s most respected makeup schools known for pioneering the “invisible makeup” technique.

“At the academy, I immersed myself in the fundamentals of Korean beauty: skin-like base, soft layering, and subtle but significant enhancements,” Chuchie says. “Korean makeup taught me restraint and precision. It showed me how to bring out a person’s natural features, so they could better appreciate it, and not cover it up.”

But she knew not everything could be applied as is. “Our climate, humidity, and skin tones are different. So I focused on adapting, not copying,” she explains.

Instead of the ultra-dewy glass-skin finish, she created breathable, oil-controlled bases and curated shades that flatter deeper Filipino tones all while maintaining that soft, effortless vibe K-beauty is known for.

To share this expertise, Chuchie launched her 1:1 K-Style Makeup Classes, available in three options:

  • Personal Class (4–5 hours) – Focused on your unique features.
  • Professional Class (6–7 hours) – Designed for aspiring makeup artists.
  • Point Class (2–3 hours) – A quick refresher or crash course.

Every class also supports her advocacy programs, including makeup education for Persons Deprived of Liberty, giving them confidence and employable skills.

“People think makeup is mere vanity, but to me, it can also be a tool for healing,” Chuchie shares.

Last July 28, 2025, Chuchie brought her Korean beauty experience full circle with “K-Beauty with Chuchie”, an immersive masterclass held at the Bloga Creator Hub in Mandaluyong. The event offered more than makeup demos as it became a celebration of learning, gratitude, and shared stories.

The kindness of the community played a key role. Soban, of Happy Foods Group, provided comforting Korean meals while Innisfree Philippines, iWhite Korea, and Jennyhouse Philippines curated beauty gift sets for the guests to take home and enjoy.
