‘Huling El Bimbo:’ What to expect from the final reunion of the Eraserheads

Mark your calendars as the concert happens on Dec. 22, 2022

If you lived through the ‘90s in the Philippines, it’s impossible you don’t know who Filipino rock band Eraserheads is. The group is one of the most popular OPM acts which popularized the songs “Ang Huling El Bimbo,” “With A Smile,” “Ligaya,” and “Pare Ko.”

When Eraserheads announced its final reunion act back in September, tickets sold out in just four days. With this, the producers decided to expand the venue to accommodate more fans who want to see them perform for the last time.

Dubbed “Huling El Bimbo,” this concert is set to happen on Dec. 22, 2022, at the SMDC Festival Grounds in Paranaque City.

Ely Buendia, the group’s lead vocalist, said that this concert will be one for the books. “Because we love our fans, we want to give them something different here. It’s the beginning of a new chapter in our lives and we also want them to have a special memory of Eraserheads as we move forward,” told the singer.

Paolo Valenciano, the concert director for “Huling El Bimbo,” also said that the show will impact all the fans of the band out there. “Mounting an Eraserheads show is no easy feat. But this is no ordinary show, it’s their last and final act in the Philippines that’s why we are making sure it’s a show that would etch in the memories of all us fans, me included,” commented Paolo.

He also said that concert goers have to watch out for a hologram tribute of the late Francis M. Also, a special drone show is one of the event highlights, kicking off the holiday spirit for the fans.

In addition to that, fans are set to be treated to an 18-piece orchestra directed by Filipino musician, Mel Villena.

“It will be a spectacular visual and auditory experience and the audience should expect the unexpected. It will be unlike anything ever produced and seen in the country, befitting the legacy of the band,” shared Diane Ventura, one of the co-producers of the concert and manager for Ecy Buendia.
