LOOK: G.H. Bass & Co.’s iconic penny loafer gets a Maharishi upgrade
Art in the form of footwear
In 1936, American footwear brand G.H. Bass & Co. gave birth to the very first penny loafer, putting a spin on a Norwegian farm shoe designed for “loafing in the field.” Now the brand is partnering with equally ethical brand Maharishi to produce a collection called G.H. Bass & Co. for Maharishi.
Founded in 1994 by Hardy Blechman, Maharishi—a term for a guru with great vision in clothing—enlists G.H. Bass & Co. for a subtle camouflage rendition of their iconic loafer. Handcrafted in first-class natural leather, the model features an all-over deboss pattern using Maharishi’s signature house camouflage DPM: Bonsai Forest.
Maharishi’s philosophy of creating environmentally-conscious and long-lasting utilitarian clothing tied with G.H. Bass & Co.’s passion for crafting honest and hard wearing footwear reveal a masterpiece of art in the form of footwear.
The G.H. Bass & Co. for Maharishi will be available in black and wine colorways starting August 6, 2021 at 11 a.m. BST. Sign up here for updates.
