Balmain and Maluma collaborate for limited-edition menswear line

The fashion brand, headed by designer Olivier Rousteing, and the Colombian musician team up for a vibrantly stylish 10-piece Caribbean-inspired collection.

Back in 2018, luxury brand Balmain had its first artist collaboration with Beyonce. Now the French fashion house is back with another collaboration, this time with Columbian artist Maluma. Key pieces from the collection include multi-printed nylon bomber, Balmain signature double-breasted military-inspired suit, striped coordinates, knit lace-up high-top sneakers, and vibrant pieces such as lime green t-shirts and hoodies with graphic prints.

The limited-edition collaboration perfectly mixes the fashion house’s modern DNA with the musicians spicy hip-hop style. “The new Balmain-Maluma collection builds upon Rousteing’s recent runways—which were filled with vintage-inspired bright tones, sharp tailoring, and incredible graphics—for a perfect Miami-blend of sherbet tones, sexy styling and ‘90s silhouettes,” the Balmain website describes.

Maluma expressed his excitement through an Instagram post saying, “Today I am excited to share my collaboration with @balmain. It was a beautiful experience to design a limited-edition collection with @olivier_rousteing called #BalmainxMaluma inspired by #PapiJuancho.” “Papi Juancho” is Maluma’s fifth studio album.

Olivier then spoke of a moment Maluma and him shared while working on the designs, “At the same time that Maluma and I were working on these designs, the speakers inside the Balmain atelier were blasting out a continual loop that both inspired and reflected our work,” the designer shared.

The Balmain x Maluma collection is available at the Balmain’s e-store.
