BAYO INTRODUCED ITS SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE WITH RAGS2RICHES
DECEMBER 13 | Manila
Aimed to address the issue of waste management and sustainability as well as to uplift Filipino communities and craftsmanship, local clothing brand Bayo launched its Gift with Purchase (GWP) initiative in partnership with social enterprise Rags2Riches.

“We were inspired to take this next step because I see mountains of cut fabrics in our factories just waiting to be thrown in the dumpsites and would take so many years before it would decompose,” shared Bayo Foundation managing director Louie Lagon on how GWP came about. “As a conscious fashion producer, Bayo strives to lessen its environmental impact and ensures that their scraps do not end up in landfills.” With GWP, fabric scraps go to Rags2Riches for upcycling, and they are turned into bags that are designed and handwoven by the Rags2Riches artisans.

The results are limited edition backpacks that can be converted into handbags and totes that come in khaki, navy, red, and black, which shoppers can get for free for a minimum purchase of Php5,000.00 at any Bayo store.
