Confidence reimagined: Sola breaks norms with new inclusive shapewear line
Innovative and inclusive, the brand now caters to masculine silhouettes
Shapewear has traditionally been associated with women conscious of unwanted shapes and curves. While some argue it perpetuates a negative view of the diverse realities of the human form, those who recognize its benefits see shapewear as more than just a garment—it’s a tool that enhances one’s physique and boosts confidence, offering a sense of composure and self-assurance.
“We’ve always associated shapewear negatively, but why not view it positively?” shared Roxelle Cortes, Head of Product and Development at Sola. “Shapewear actually helps people gain confidence. Those who are familiar with it see it as a second skin, and we’re striving to make it more accessible.”
Following the launch of Sola’s Mercury collection earlier this year, the brand founded by Kylie Verzosa is expanding its offerings to include masculine body types. Like the initial drop, these new pieces are seamless and crafted with high-compression technology, providing targeted support, control, and a polished look without visible lines.
The collection features Sculpting Boxer Shapewear Shorts with high tummy compression and light thigh compression for muscle recovery; a Sculpting Short Sleeve Shirt with medium back compression for posture, high tummy compression, and light shoulder compression; and a Sculpting Sleeveless Shirt with medium back and high tummy compression in a versatile sleeveless design.
Each piece, available in black and slate colorways, is made from breathable fabrics that ensure maximum comfort and flexibility with no side seams, making them ideal for both everyday wear and special occasions. The versatile shirt styles can be worn as undershirts or as standalone fashion pieces. The collection is available in sizes ranging from small to extra-large, catering to diverse body types and reinforcing the brand’s commitment to inclusivity.
Kylie, who is also the creative director of the brand, expressed her excitement about the new launch: “At Sola, we believe in empowering individuals to feel confident and comfortable in their own skin. Our Men’s Shapewear Collection is a testament to our commitment to inclusivity and innovation. We’re thrilled to offer a solution that caters to the modern man’s needs and challenges traditional norms.”
In addition to providing compression in all the right places, we at Garage love how the pieces support posture, helping us straighten our backs for a better silhouette whether standing or sitting. Their sleek design also makes them a great fashion base if you choose to wear them on their own.
Pre-orders for this initial launch start on sola.com.ph on August 1, 2024, with products available for purchase on Sola’s website, as well as on Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop, starting August 13, 2024.
