Seiko unveils three watches to celebrate 100th brand anniversary

Featuring enhanced power, water resistance, and legibility

In 1924, Seiko made its mark with the introduction of its branded wristwatch, marking the company’s inception. Fast forward to 2024, as Seiko celebrates a century of watchmaking innovation, it unveils timepieces that offer increased power, improved water resistance, and enhanced legibility. Introducing the Seiko Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver’s Watches.

SPB451

This new collection comprises three watches: the SPB451 with a blue dial, the SPB453 with a black dial, and a limited-edition SPB455 that stands out from the rest. These timepieces are part of the Prospex collection, based on the popular SPB143. Powered by Caliber 6R55, these watches boast an impressive 72-hour power reserve and can withstand depths of up to 300 meters underwater.

Among the many features of these watches is a more compact design, with a diameter of 40mm, a lug-to-lug length of 46.4mm, and a thickness of 13mm, while maintaining the reliability, safety, and ease of use expected of a Seiko diver’s watch.

The watches also feature stainless steel bezels with aluminum inserts for a sleek design, complete with minute markings and laser-engraved numerals. Additionally, they come with shorter links and a smaller clasp to enhance wearer comfort.

As for the limited-edition wristwatch, it boasts a charcoal gray dial with gold accents, symbolizing the brand’s advancements over the years. It can also be paired with another strap option made from recycled plastic bottles, braided using the Japanese technique called Seichu. This strap showcases a uniquely Japanese aesthetic and texture, resembling the traditional obijime, the decorative cord used to secure a kimono sash. Notably, this strap is specially manufactured to have a tensile strength nearly four times that of regular Seiko fabric straps.

All three watches will be available at the Seiko Boutiques and select retail stores worldwide from June 2024.
