LOOK: Japanese watch brand Orient Star opens its flagship store in the Philippines
Explore the exceptional timepieces from the leading mechanical watch brand
Orient Star, the premier brand under Orient, has inaugurated its flagship store in the Philippines. Situated at Mitsukoshi in BGC Taguig, the first Japanese-inspired mall in the country, watch collectors and enthusiasts now have the opportunity to delve into the offerings of this esteemed mechanical watch purveyor.
Since the 1970s, Orient has primarily focused on quartz watches before venturing into the realm of mechanical timepieces with its renowned Orient Star line. The brand is dedicated to crafting enduring and stylish watches. In 1996, Orient Star introduced the evolved caliber 46, featuring a power reserve for the first time. Subsequently, in 2017, it unveiled the F7 movement, introducing a semi-skeleton model with a mechanical moon phase display representing the lunar cycle. Building upon this innovation, Orient Star launched the F8 movement in 2021, incorporating cutting-edge technology such as a silicon escape wheel.
“As we expand Orient Star in the Philippines, we want to share our masterful range of models, which expertly balance precision mechanical movement with modern design and fashion-forward color combinations,” shared Naoto Ueda, deputy chief operating officer of wearable products operations division of Seiko Epson. “Our Japanese artisans have masterfully crafted the mechanical watches to endure over time. We also can’t imagine a better place to open the first Orient Star boutique than Mitsukoshi BGC.”
