The series explores the ‘what-ifs’ of life
Produced by GMA Public Affairs, the same team behind the Philippines’ most-watched TV show of 2022, “Lolong,” is once again partnering with actor Ruru Madrid for a romantic drama series titled “The Write One.”
Ruru will be working alongside his real-life partner, Bianca Umali, who received critical acclaim for her portrayal of Farrah in the 2020 breakthrough family drama series “Legal Wives.”
The Kapuso homegrown artists and Sparkle stars will play Liam (Ruru), a frustrated writer, and Joyce (Bianca), a budding showbiz personality and mother to their son, Dex.
Liam gets a chance to rewrite his love and life story with the help of a magical typewriter. In the new timeline, the duo finds themselves in different relationships, which will lead Liam to wonder: does destiny put people in the right place to make the right choice, or does an individual have full control of what they think and do to meet the one written in the stars for them to love?
This project marks the first-ever collaboration between GMA Network and leading pan-regional video streaming service Viu. Additionally, “The Write One” is the first time Ruru and Bianca will be working as a loveteam on the small screen.
“I’m really also excited to be given this chance to work with Bianca in a romantic drama series like this,” said Ruru during the press con. “I’m also happy to be reunited with GMA Public Affairs after I did ‘Lolong’ with them, which is really a huge success.”
For Bianca, working with Ruru as her on-screen partner takes some adjustment. “Sanay kami na kaming dalawa ‘yung pahinga ng isa’t isa. Hindi kami sanay na kami yung trabaho ng isa’t isa,” she admitted.
The series also sees the TV reunion of veteran actors Lotlot De Leon and Ramon Christopher, who play Liam’s parents. Further giving life to the story are highly-esteemed character actors like Mikee Quintos, Paul Salas, Mon Confiado, Alma Concepcion, Art Acuna, and other Sparkle artists.
Directed by King Marc Baco, “The Write One” is an original concept of executive producer Mark Anthony Norella and will be available to stream on Viu Philippines from Saturdays to Tuesdays starting March 18 and on GMA Telebabad, Mondays to Thursdays at 9:35 p.m. starting March 20.
