Jean Paul Gaultier and Chitose Abe, Sacai’s artistic director, finally reveal their collaboration for fall-winter 2021-2022. “For the occasion, Jean Paul Gaultier and Sacai unveil a never-before-seen ephemeral ready-to-wear capsule collection,” the French brand describes.

The Jean Paul Gaultier x Sacai capsule lists eight pieces all in all including t-shirt and leggings set with tattoo prints as imagined by Dr. Woo. From the Sacai archives, the collection also introduces a revisited take on its iconic bomber jacket. A limited-edition perfume Classique and three “Enfant terribles” shirts, an ode to Jean Paul with the infamous industry moniker, also compose the offering.

To complete the collab, an exclusive Nike VaporWaffle sneaker Sacai x Jean Paul Gaultier makes its debut with a price tag of €198. Out of all the pieces, this is what we are most excited about. “An unprecedented alliance between Nike, Sacai, and Jean Paul Gaultier to create a new hybrid model of VaporWaffle. This pair of sneakers whose split sole is now recognizable among thousands, is customized especially for the occasion,” the Gaultier site explains.

On July 7, 2021, the collection went live on the Gaultier website for pre-orders and immediately made a shopping frenzy among fans and patrons of both brands. Within the same day, the sneakers got sold out. Guess we have to wait and see if they’ll make these sneakers available again on the site.
