We’re obsessing over this unisex pearl necklace collection

The Mikimoto x Comme des Garçons is the fashion accessory collab of our dreams

In 2020, Japanese fine jewelry Mikimoto and Rei Kawakubo’s Comme des Garçons team worked together for a collaboration of pearl necklace accessories with a twist. This year, the partnership is back with volume two. 

The 2021 collaboration features the perfect mix between punk and class using silver hardware and cultured pearls. There are currently five unisex styles to choose from, all sharing the iconic Mikimoto Hoya pearls, but each piece features a varied punk creation from Comme des Garçons like silver spikes, safety pins, and shark fin-shaped hardware. 

All creations from this collaboration are inspired by Rei’s love for men in pearls. “This collaboration between Mikimoto and Comme des Garçons began with an innovative vision by Rei Kawakubo; to adorn ‘Men in Pearls,’ says the website description. “Meaning ‘Like Boys’ in French, Comme des Garçons has been the forerunner of avant-garde fashion for decades. We believe this collaboration will generate a whole new wave of trends and opportunities for Mikimoto. In an era when pre existing values are rapidly evolving, we hope to further promote the beauty and potential of pearls through this collaboration. To adorn the necks of all, regardless of age or gender.”
