EXCLUSIVE: UAAP MVP Chabi Yo Sports H&M’s latest swim collection plus more about the brand’s latest campaign
As we carry on with this exclusive, the sun shined bright on the third day of H&M’s campaign shoot, unlike the first two days when the sun was being a tease. However, that was not what got us excited—we had a 6’6” surprise by the end of the third day. UAAP 2019’s MVP Soulemane Chabi Yo arrived, and he was shooting for H&M’s swim campaign too! “We always find ways to connect with our men’s market, so we thought, what better way to do that than with two of the most promising athletes in Philippine basketball today? Sports, after all, is something a lot of our male customers can relate to. Kobe and Chabi are also really into fashion and H&M, which makes things even more exciting!” shares H&M.
We were actually quite surprised that even though it was Chabi’s first campaign shoot, he took directions well, and passed muster. We couldn’t let the opportunity pass without having to sit down with the Beninese athlete. The 24-year old athlete grew up in West Africa with his five younger sisters. We asked about his lifestyle, and he was kind enough to share some facts as well as his favorite H&M swim shorts.
How’s life post-basketball season?
After the season, it’s a little bit relaxed but I need to still be in good shape so from time to time. I need to practice and go to the gym.
How do you like spending summer?
I enjoy hanging out with my friends, and going shopping. During the basketball season, I don’t have time to go to the mall and hangout with my friends.
How would you describe your personal style?
I like to be simple. Jogger pants, t-shirts, with a mix of plains and prints does it for me. It depends on the occasion.
Among the H&M swim shorts you’ve worn, what’s your favorite?
The neon shorts are my favorite. (Points to what he’s currently wearing)
