LOOK: Simone Rocha debuts menswear collection at London Fashion Week

The designer blends soft and hard silhouettes for her menswear’s style code

Early last year, we got a glimpse of how Irish designer Simone Rocha would approach menswear in her collaboration with H&M. This time, we got to see the designer go full swing for spring as she debuted 17 menswear looks for her London Fashion Week spring-summer 2023 presentation.

Known for her ultra-feminine style of presenting garments in tulle, lace, ruffles, and frills, the 36-year-old designer translated these style codes in a more masculine approach for her menswear offering. And although the collection was dominated by ladies’ wear, the men’s counterpart didn’t feel supplementary but a defining factor for the collection instead.

Tulle came in forms of men’s voluminous skirts, tops, jackets, and headdresses. Romantic ruffles materialized in long dresses and baby doll tops in monochromatic colors of cream, black and white.

Bomber jackets and trench coats may be staple in menswear presentations but Simone gave her own treatment to these silhouettes through puffed-up sleeves, ruching, and ribbons.
