News about the coming of the Hong Kong-based cafe has been around since 2019. And after months in lockdown and different community quarantines, Filipinos now will get the chance to try its famous espresso, flat white, and other signature lattes.

Established in 2012, The Coffee Academics was born out of its founder Jennifer Liu’s love for Sunday Brunch with her dad. Since then, it has been “setting the standards in coffee quality and exceptional coffee experiences” with its master brews and social initiatives.

“70 percent of our house blend gives back to farmers through charities around the world,” it says. “The Coffee Academics places corporate social responsibility at the forefront of our business, supporting local social enterprises from our directly sourced coffee regions to giving back to the local communities.”

“We work with coffee farms or estates worldwide that actively support local communities and environments, with programs like Girls Gotta Run Foundation in Ethiopia, providing technical farming support for Colombia, supporting youth empowerment in Honduras,” it continues.

One that avid Filipino coffee drinkers shouldn’t miss is its Steam drink, a steamed espresso sweetened by natural sugar that helps create a frothy texture. For a different caffeine experience, try its coffee in a cone, the Coffee Connete. Its Egg Royale is something one should have for breakfast, too. An egg dish with burnt hollandaise sauce topped with Ikura, its presentation alone already earned its royal status.

The Coffee Academics now has 18 stores around Asia, in places like Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand. Much like the cafes in other locations, the Philippine branch sports its hallmark cozy, and warm aesthetic.

Dropping by soon? You can find the world-renowned cafe at High Street South Corporate Plaza Tower One, 26th Street corner 9th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City. For updates, follow @thecoffeeacademicsph on Instagram.
