Gabby Salvador and Pao Javelona share easy tips on looking and feeling your best

Confidence comes down to the little things, and these guys know it

Not too long ago, men’s grooming was limited to the basics like a quick shave, a splash of cologne, and maybe some hair wax. But today, guys are more open to conversations about wellness, grooming, and confidence, often taking cues from personalities they follow online. Whether it’s a new skincare routine, a simple haircut, or just making healthier choices, self-care has become a key ingredient in how men carry themselves.

That was the energy at the recent Watsons Bro Hub at SM Mall of Asia Atrium, a gathering that brought together different generations of men to talk about confidence and modern masculinity. Among the speakers were athlete Pao Javelona and content creator Gabby Salvador, both of whom shared practical, no-fuss tips that prove self-care doesn’t have to be complicated.

For Pao Javelona, taking care of yourself is more than looking good but about creating a sense of control. “Skincare for me is very therapeutic. In a world where you can’t control things, you can control your skincare,” he said, adding that he always keeps a handy shaver with him to avoid looking “crusty.” His advice is to invest in yourself, because showing up well-groomed benefits not just how others see you, but how you see yourself.

On the other hand, Gabby Salvador highlighted the basics. As someone balancing a day job with content creation, he believes men don’t need an elaborate routine to practice self-care. “Hydrate, eat good food, have a good sleep, and exercise,” he shared. For him, confidence is built on these simple but consistent habits.
