Old school never looked this fresh

70 years later, Original Penguin is still iconic
Pete the Penguin just hit the big seven-zero but don’t think for a second this brand is stuck in the past. Original Penguin marks its 70th anniversary with a capsule collection that proves it’s no longer just for the titos. This one’s for the young guys who love that preppy, laidback, and vintage-inspired vibe.

From its roots in 1955 as a golf shirt brand worn by icons like Frank Sinatra and Clint Eastwood, Original Penguin has always been about effortless cool. But this time around, it’s shaking off its “tito-core” reputation and stepping into a fresh era where polos aren’t just for Sunday golf, they’re for city strolls, music gigs, and everything in between.

The 70th Anniversary Collection takes its most iconic styles and gives them a modern remix. Expect soft, updated fabrics, sharp tailoring, and fresh colorways that feel right at home on today’s streetwear-loving crowd. It’s vintage, but make it current.
And because a celebration isn’t complete without a party, Original Penguin is bringing the vibe to Manila. From July 23 to 27, the Original Penguin 70s Lounge pops up at SM Mall of Asia, serving retro nostalgia with a modern twist. It’s a space where longtime fans and new-gen style guys can explore the brand’s legacy—and shop the collection, of course.

“Original Penguin has always stood for more than just clothes. It’s about personality and heritage,” said Cheryl Lee, co-founder and CEO of Anthem, the exclusive distributor of Original Penguin in the Philippines. “This anniversary is our way of honoring that story while continuing to evolve for the Filipino market.”
The 70th Anniversary Collection drops in all Original Penguin stores starting July 18, 2025.
