LOOK: French fashion house Celine launches first cosmetic line
Celine Beauté’s first drop is set for fall 2024
Back in 2018, Hedi Slimane, the creative director of Celine, launched the maison’s fragrance line, which became popular not only within the fragrance community but also among those who appreciate the luxury of beauty rituals.
This year, the brand announced that the first drop from Celine Beauté, called Le Rouge Celine, a lipstick, will be available in October 2024. The inaugural product, Le Rouge Celine in shade 01 Rouge Triomphe, is composed of 89 percent natural ingredients, including squalane, sunflower wax, rice wax, and beeswax.
Similar to the refillable fragrance bottles, Hedi designed the couture object enclosed in a sheath of gold metal for the lipsticks and silver for the balms. It is said that the inspiration came from late 18th-century French-style classicism, notably Louis XVI gold jewelry, and the distinctive modernist minimalism of Art Deco. The maison’s Triomphe emblem is embossed on top of the case, while the ring around the center is engraved with the timeless promise, “Le Rouge Celine Paris.”
As for the rest of the collection, it will be launched in January 2025, featuring 15 satin-finish colors, including the classic nude shade La Peau Nue, which highlights the lips of the models in the “Triomphe” film.
Hedi has also designed the aesthetics of pencils, mascaras, loose powders, complexion products, and nail polishes, which will be revealed in the coming seasons.
