Not everyone is blessed with naturally flicked, long lashes, making eyelash extensions the perfect solution to this beauty dilemma. Out of curiosity and the fantasy of having lashes like the celebrities mentioned above, we decided to try one of the premier destinations for eyelash extension services: New Lounge. Join us on our journey as we share a step-by-step process, complete with before and after photos of our new eyelashes.
We visited New Lounge in Bonifacio High Street in BGC, Taguig. Upon arrival, the technicians had us fill out a form for documentation. We were then led to our cozy station and given a blanket for extra comfort. Since it was our first time, we were asked what kind of lashes we wanted. New Lounge uses high-quality, premium, anti-bacterial sable lashes which are semi-permanent, high-grade, and as soft and lightweight as our natural hair. We were given the choice of curl type: J Curl for a natural look, C Curl for a mid-curl, and Super Curl for lifted, hyper-curled lashes.
Besides the type of curls, there are several lash styles to choose from: Natural Volume, Male Lashes, Cat Eye, Doll Eye, Everyday Lashes, Lifestyle Lashes, Icon Lashes, PH Exclusive Volume Lashes, Lower Lashes, and Colored Lashes. These options differ in lash placement and length, ranging from 0.03 mm to 0.07 mm, with sizes from 8mm to 14mm. We opted for the Male Lashes, which usually come in mix of the J curl and sizes 8 and 9. We customized the style slightly by choosing a mix of 8mm and 10mm lashes with a little volume on the outer edges. This style effortlessly adds volume, framing the face for a more youthful and brighter eye look. We suggest choosing whichever style suits your personal taste or consulting with the lash specialist if you aren’t sure.
The reclining couches were so comfortable, and the technician’s hands were so light that we lightly fell asleep. There was nothing particularly uncomfortable during the procedure, just a slight watering of the eyes due to the glue. The technician made sure to use a handheld fan to alleviate any stinging.
After almost an hour, the adhesives were removed from around our eyes. A mirror was handed to us to check the lashes and see if there was any stinging. (Don’t freak out if there is; it’s totally normal unless it’s unbearable. Just let the technicians know, and they will assist accordingly.) We were then given a shoulder massage, which felt great after lying down for a while. The lashes felt light, and it didn’t seem like we had anything on our eyes when we blinked.
Verdict: We were pretty happy with the result. Added volume to our straight lashes is very much apparent, giving our eyes a little extra oomph of expression. They look a little wet from crying or give that sleepy eyes vibe, which we find pretty sexy. We would totally recommend the service if you’re looking to add length, volume, and extra expression to your short eyelashes. But if your eyes are too sensitive, if you easily get styes, or if you have allergies, it’s best to inform the technicians or your health provider for assessment before going through with the service.
