Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons are inspired by ’40s tailoring

Presented on a meshed steel runway, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons geared their spring-summer 2024 collection with contemporary pieces inspired by vintage tailoring.

Prada is one of the fashion houses that takes pride in its clean lines and sharp tailoring, which are also elemental to this collection. While slime fell from the ceiling, models walked the runway wearing a hybrid of a shirt and blazer with elongated sleeves tucked into either schoolboy-inspired shorts or high-waist pleated pants that balloon around the hips area.

Aside from unconventional Hawaiian shirts, tops spurt with faux furs either on the collar or shoulders, materialized on the runway. Several shirts with fringing also appeared on the runway, as well as technical pieces of clothing exhibited through multi-pocketed shirts or gilets worn over coats.

For accessories, eyewear played a significant role in styling, as well as bags in black or olive green leather. Slip-on patent leather shoes in neutrals and pastels were worn together with high socks, adding more academia effect to the collection.
