Supreme gets a London twist with new Burberry collab

Featuring an outerwear-focused collection

Riccardo Tisci just presented Burberry’s spring-summer 22 collection in London but prior to this drop, a collaboration with Supreme also made headlines with streetwear pieces highlighted with Burberry’s iconic check patterns.

In a post made by Supreme, the New York streetwear brand shared a history about the house including how it was founded by 21-year-old Thomas Burberry in Basingstoke, Hampshire. “@Burberry is a British luxury fashion brand established in 1856 by 21-year-old former draper’s apprentice Thomas Burberry in Basingstoke, Hampshire. Rooted in outerwear, Burberry was founded on the principle that clothing should be designed to protect people from the weather,” shared Supreme.

“Among Burberry’s early innovations was gabardine – a lightweight yet hard-wearing weatherproof fabric. Inspired by local shepherds’ methods of waterproofing their smocks, Burberry used a unique proofing process which allowed natural ventilation but offered protection from the elements. The resulting garments were durable yet breathable – and highly sought after,” the brand added.

The Burberry x Supreme collection featured coordinating jackets, pants, and hats which are all patterned with Burberry’s iconic plaid. The other items featured Burberry’s motifs but in a more subtle way including a bubblegum pink trench coat with plaid lining, a gray hoodie with Supreme logo on the center with plaid background, bowling shirt with Burberry-colored stripes, and jackets with the house’s equestrian knight logo.
