The new Hublot and Takashi Murakami collab is totally kawaii
Featuring 384 colored gemstones
Remember when Hublot and Takashi Murakami first linked up earlier this year with an all-black Classic Fusion? Well, the partnership is ending 2021 with a totally different look for the Classic Fusion. This time, the timepiece gets a more colorful, festive iteration.
The Swiss watch brand collaborates with the iconic Japanese contemporary designer for the second time. The watch, dubbed as the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Sapphire Rainbow, is “a whirlwind of transparency and color.”
The watch features a transparent sapphire material and a face which holds 384 colored gemstones, borrowing Takashi’s signature motif of smiling flowers. For the watch’s movement, it’s characterized with Hublot’s unique, automatic chronograph Unico movement.
“As the soul of the watch, this movement with an ‘open heart’ reveals its completely re-imagined design, with a double coupling system and column-wheel from the dial side. Its construction of 330 components has been simplified as much as possible to improve reliability and robustness,” describes Hublot.
