It’s Louis Vuitton’s 200th anniversary and here’s how they’re celebrating

Happy birthday, Monsieur Louis Vuitton! 

August 4 is a very significant day in the fashion industry for one of the most admired innovators, visionary, and trailblazers in global fashion is celebrated. This year, specifically, is remarkable for the French fashion house for it is celebrating its founder’s 200th anniversary. And we heard “grand” is an understatement for the festivities. 

For the second half of the year, the French fashion house plans to release a series of creative initiatives in celebration of Louis Vuitton’s legacy. Dubbed as “Louis 200” the activations will include art, literary, and even NFT video gaming. 

Here are the activities that are happening and soon to look forward to: 

The release of the “Louis The Game.” Devotees can now play as Vivienne, where they can experience the designer’s two-year journey from his hometown in the French Jura to Paris where it all started. Vivienne will travel to worlds inspired by Paris, Beijing, London, and New York, where the monogrammed mascot will have to clear quests and collect keys to unlock new levels.

The maison also collaborated with 200 artists who will showcase their reimagined Louis Vuitton trunks which will be displayed in their boutiques all over the world. The collaborators include K-Pop sensation BTS, Drake, Marc Jacobs, Nigo, and many more.

By October 2021, a fictional novel based on historical facts will be written by French writer Caroline Bongrand and published by Gallimard. 

A large-scale triptych of the founder painted by American artist Alex Katz will be unveiled later this year.

A documentary titled “Looking for Louis” will also be released, centering on young Louis’ adventure leading to the mogul that built his empire
