Metallica celebrates ‘Black Album’ 30th anniversary with Vans collaboration
‘Nothing Else Matters’ but this drop
If you have older siblings who are into heavy metal and hard rock, this collaboration may remind you of those cassette tapes that have been lying around in their room. Metallica, the heavy metal band formed in 1981, is celebrating the release of their “Black Album.” On its 30th anniversary, they decided to team up with Vans one more time and tag along another long-time collaborator, artist and record label owner Brian Schoeder a.k.a. Pushead.
The collaboration takes form in Vans’ Sk8-Hi and Classic slip-on models, which rocks Pushead’s signature “Sad But True” design that features two skulls facing one another and a blue shatter graphic. This artwork, which is also associated with Metallica’s Black Album, appears on the sidewalls of the Sk8-Hi while the Classic Slip-on gets the artwork stamped on the upper. The Sk8-Hi and Classic Slip-on also get the Metallica logo in metallic silver on the sole and pull tab, respectively.
