WATCH: Saint Laurent’s spring-summer 2022 capsule comes full circle
Anthony Vacarello brought goth back to life
There is a certain divinity about the latest presentation of Saint Laurent. For its spring-summer 2022 collection, the film presentation started off with a model emerging on water as dramatic music played in the background. The YSL logo then floated on the surface before the camera panned to the reflective art installation by artist Doug Aitken. The living artwork, dubbed as the Green Lens, spoke of a narrative about a future world showcasing a mirror-faceted structure which is planted with greenery.
As the artwork reflected the skies, waters, and landscapes, models were also replicated as they navigated their way through the creation. Standouts from the collection were billowing capes, cigarette pants, chest-baring tops, layered accessories, and platform shoes. Anthony also revealed that few of the pieces from this collection were borrowed from women’s wear pieces a couple of seasons ago. You would see cropped jackets, blouses, black jeans, as well as lace tops which were part of the house’s sustainability efforts.
