Gucci x Balenciaga collaboration: Everything we know so far
With the rumors circulating that Gucci’s Alessandro Michele has collaborated with the house of Balenciaga’s Demna Gvasalia, fashionistas are quick to celebrate in excitement with this latest development from Kering Group. The apparent source of the rumor stems from Italian market reports, as first reported by Business of Fashion.
An industry leader in luxury, global group Kering manages several high-profile fashion brands including Gucci, Balenciaga, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Alexander McQueen, and Brioni, as well as jewelry labels Boucheron and Pomellato.
The team up, as WWD reports, is about to transpire sooner than you think. The partnership is to be unveiled together with Gucci’s “Aria” collection, rolling out in public come April 15, 2021 through a series of short films. The release of “Aria” will also mark Gucci’s 100th year anniversary in the industry, unmasking the collaboration as a potential centennial celebration as well.
Though it is still unclear what the presentation from Alessandro Michele and Denma Gvsalia will offer, people are expecting a mystical hybrid couture collection from both fashion houses. This special collaboration will be Gucci’s first presentation for the year after announcing in 2020 that the house plans to only do two shows per year in the aims of reducing its ecological footprint.
