For its 185th anniversary, Ginebra San Miguel celebrated another
milestone by having Pia Wurtzbach as their Calendar Girl for 2019. The reveal, which happened last October 24, kick-started a year-long celebration of the liquor brand’s triumph as a world-class and oldest Filipino product still in the market today.
“This year, we pay tribute to the struggle and spirit of the hero, that is the Filipino every man, dahil taglay nila ang husay at tapang at tibay na hindi sumusuko. Kahit anuman ang pinagdadaanan at ano man ang pasubok. Narinig nyo na siguro: Never Say Die. Ito ang kwento ng bawat Pilipino. Ito ang kwento ng Ginebra. Ito ang kwento ng Ginebra Ako,” said GSMI marketing manager Ron Molina.
“We are proud to have Ms. Pia Wurtzbach as our Ginebra San Miguel 2019 Calendar Girl. Pia is the perfect person to represent the brand, especially [since] we will be celebrating next year Ginebra San Miguel’s 185th anniversary. Pia is the epitome of what the brand stands for.”
It’s well known that Wurtzbach had joined Binibining Pilipinas three times before winning the crown and going on to gain the title of Miss Universe in 2015. The drive and grit that she showed as she pursued her goal endeared her to the hearts of Filipinos, who related to her struggles and her determination.
“I think a lot of people know already my story in Binibining Pilipinas. I kept trying and finally made it here. Beyond that, what are the new things that I’m going to do? That’s what I am working on right now. I want to continue to make all of you proud. I do have a never-say-die story because of my story when I joined Ms. Universe, but it’s not the end of my story. Abangan nyo na lang,” she teased.
Aside from being a celebrity, Wurtzbach is also known for her advocacy for HIV/AIDS awareness and women empowerment.
As the newest Ginebra San Miguel Calendar Girl, she joins the ranks of other beautiful, confident, and strong-willed women who have also graced the pages of the calendar. “It’s an honor for me, especially since the 2019 calendar also commemorates Ginebra’s 185th anniversary,” the beauty queens said. “This is an experience I won’t forget since this is the first time I’ve done a swimsuit photo shoot since competing at the Miss Universe pageant.”
Appearing on the pages of the calendar together with Wurtzbach are Ginebra San Miguel’s iconic products: the original and iconic Ginebra San Miguel, Ginebra San Miguel Premium Gin, G.S.M.
