Laviejo wants skincare to age with you, not fight you
A Japanese skincare brand enters Manila with a philosophy centered on aging well, intentional beauty, and long-term skin health
The beauty industry has spent years selling the idea of “anti-aging,” usually packaged with panic, impossible standards, and a 10-step routine nobody realistically follows past Wednesday. Laviejo is entering the Philippine skincare space with a different perspective entirely: aging well.
Officially launched through “The Skin Cellar: From the Vineyard to Your Vanity” at Blackbird in Makati City, the Japanese skincare brand introduces a philosophy centered on intentional beauty, long-term skin health, and rituals designed to evolve with every stage of life.
Developed by Towako Medical Cosmetics in Japan, Laviejo draws inspiration from Japanese precision and the slow craftsmanship of winemaking. At the center of the line is its signature Red Wine Yeast Extract, a proprietary ingredient sourced from Noto grapes grown in Japan’s Ishikawa Prefecture and enriched by the mineral-rich waters of Mt. Hakusan. Through a specialized fermentation process, the ingredient is designed to support hydration, antioxidant defense, resilience, and visible radiance.

The formulations also combine advanced skincare actives like Fullerene and Triple Hyaluronic Acid, creating a system that focuses not just on immediate glow, but on maintaining skin balance and strength over time. Which, frankly, sounds far more sustainable than aggressively exfoliating your face into emotional damage.
For Dr. Pia Mendiola, Head of Laviejo Philippines, the brand’s philosophy reflects a more grounded approach to beauty and self-care.

“Skincare is no longer about chasing youth. It is about prevention, restoration, and caring for ourselves intentionally, confidently, and gracefully at every stage of life,” she shared during the launch.

Laviejo’s skincare ritual includes the Cleansing Gel, Facial Wash, Lotion, Essence, Cream, and UV Milk, all designed to work together while remaining adaptable for tropical climates like the Philippines. The lightweight layering system allows users to adjust depending on humidity, pollution exposure, and the skin’s changing daily needs — because Manila weather alone can humble even the strongest skincare routine.
As Laviejo officially enters the Philippine market, it is less interested in selling the illusion of eternal youth and more focused on encouraging a healthier relationship with beauty altogether: one built on care, balance, and skin that looks lived in — just well taken care of.
