Lacoste unveils a first-of-its-kind sneaker with the ‘L001’
Rapper A$AP Nast spearheads the campaign
Lacoste’s Play Collective expands its offering with the release of a new footwear silhouette: the L001.
The L001’s key details take inspiration from Lacoste’s archive: the Rene, the first-ever shoe created by Rene Lacoste, and a vintage tennis racket from the 1980s. The retro shape and mood of the Rene updates the spirit of the new L001, while kinetic lines running along the 19080s vintage racket handle can be seen on the sneaker’s upper.
The tennis-inspired sneaker also pays tribute to the iconic details like the croc branding, recognizable motifs of clean stripes, and the subtle use of primary and classic Lacoste hues like court green, navy, light mahogany, plum, saffron, classic red, and mint.
Together with the reveal of the brand new sneaker, the French company announces artist A$AP Nast as the ambassador for the L001. Lacoste states, “Revealed by the renowned connoisseur of both the streetwear and fashion scenes, rapper and Lacoste fan A$AP Nast radiates in this latest Lacoste footwear campaign, his interpretation of elegance. Tattooed on his chest or embossed on his sneakers, the performer «always carries the spirit of the crocodile.»”
