The collection drops this November

With Dior and Sacai collaborating for a new collection, Kim Jones and Chitose Abe are ultimately gifting us with a menswear capsule made from the finest French and Japanese artistry, craftsmanship, and ingenuity. The design fusion between the two luxury fashion houses can’t get any better than this: Dior x Sacai offering a 57-piece collection for fall 2021 with ready-to-wear, bags, footwear, and accessories.

“Chitose Abe has been a friend for about 15 years, and one thing during the pandemic that I’m sure most people missed was their friends and travel,” Dior artistic director Kim Jones announces on Instagram. “Japan is somewhere we always visit a lot, and so we started a conversation of working together and did this collection over a period of lockdown—sending samples and sketches back and forth.”

As for the house of Sacai, the Japanese brand states that the collaboration represents the fusion of French and Japanese identities and cultures. “In shades of black, blue, white, and cream, Dior codes such as tailoring are tweaked, as here, in the top collar of a reimagined bomber jacket,” Sacai mentions in a social media post, pertaining to the photo above. “The hybridization that is a signature of the guest designer Chitose Abe’s work comes through in the use of patching and layering in a mix of materials, imbuing classic wardrobe components with a fresh urban energy, a nod to streetwear with Parisian polish.”
